Welcome to South Hill!
South Hill cascades south of Forest Hill from St. Clair Avenue West to Dupont Street. Winding north/south streets such as Russell Hill Road and Poplar Plains rival some of Rosedale’s most picturesque drives home from the heart of the city. From Spadina Road a vast stretch of land to its eastern boundary of Avenue Road is parkland.
Sir Winston Churchill Park has a year round sports and recreational facility that includes outdoor tennis courts. The park has a spectacular view of the city skyline and rare open space created by its unique topography as the former shoreline of Lake Iroquois. Today this unique stretch of land has become Toronto’s best toboggan hill and a dog lovers paradise. Nordheimer Ravine takes the park deeper in to South Park with nature trails and miles of hiking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Half a dozen parkettes provide children playgrounds or quiet benches to sit rest and take it all in. The Southeastern section of South Hill has the unique distinction of being its own republic called Rathnelly.
South Hill may not have the same name recognition as Rosedale or Forest Hill yet is every bit as glamorous and exclusive with some of Toronto’s largest lots and homes built here. Many South facing properties have spectacular city views with the vantage point of sitting high up on the hill.
The South Hill neighbourhood is well served by public transportation. The Avenue Road bus connects passengers to the Museum subway station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line and the St. Clair streetcar connects passengers to stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line.
Motorists enjoy convenient access to major roadways including Yonge Street, Avenue Road, and Bathurst Street. These roads provide commuters with quick and easy access both into and out of the city.
